August – Dan Grech
Our run leaders chose Dan for this month’s recognition, and it is very well deserved:
“Dan is a runner who sets himself challenging goals and then works very hard to achieve them. He is someone who certainly doesn’t lack in confidence and due to this, he’s a great person to be around. He always brings out the best in others and is a fantastic team member. The camaraderie and support that Dan has from and for other members of the club is wonderful to watch.
Dan’s running has come so far over the last year, highlighted by his recent Parkrun PB of 17.33 at Walmer and Deal Seafront. He has also had some great results on track races including first place in the 1500m Ashford Track Meet. It has been great to see the progression in his running and we look forward to seeing what Dan decides to tackle next!”

We asked Dan his thoughts on TRAC:
Q. What attracted you to join TRAC?
A: I first joined TRAC when I was looking for a social aspect to my running. It’s amazing how much better and easier running feels when part of a group to celebrate and support each other.
Q. What’s your best moment?
A: My best moment has been most of this summer. It’s been my first season doing track events and I’ve loved every race I’ve taken part in. 200/400/1500/mile/3k.
It’s been a brand new experience but something I’ve enjoyed so much. I also managed to win the Superhero 5km in Margate (photo) followed by a 1min+ PB at Deal & Walmer Parkrun on my birthday weekend paced by the wonderful Alex Dugard.
Q. What would you say to a new person who is considering joining?
A: Don’t hesitate to join up; you won’t regret it. There are so many wonderful people at the club who will help improve you and make running a more enjoyable experience.
Q. What does the club mean to you?
A: It’s great to represent TRAC across the county in lots of different events. It’s such a warm feeling being recognised and supported by the club.
