Dartford Half Marathon – Race Report –

Another hilly but enjoyable day out for team TRAC at the Dartford Half.

The 3rd instalment of this years TRAC Club Champs and Kent Grand Prix (and also the Kent Long Course Champs), was held at Dartford. It was a well organised event, with a great head quarters, brilliant marshalls and plenty of a variety of treats at the end.

The course took us out of Central Park, past Brooklands Lake and out into the countryside. Unfortunately there was fog for a large portion of the race which somewhat ruined what I was imagining to be some fantastic country views. But no wind or rain, so we couldn’t complain too much!

Described as undulating, it was certainly a challenging route full of hills, with one particularly difficult one at around the 10 and half mile point. However, the last 2 miles were downhill creating a fast finish for those who had any energy left in reserves, and the finish around the blue running track back at Central Park was a fantastic experience.

Despite the challenges the course presented, Matt McCarthy, Jay Bailey, Mark Croucher and Georgie Judge all achieved half marathons PB’s – congratulations!

And again some fantastic placings in a very large and competitive field.
