Sunday 15th March 2026
The 3rd Club Champ race was a lovely sunny dry day at Minnis Bay.
The wind was slowly getting stronger, but for all those who know that stretch, it wasn’t too bad…
It was a waved start and as always, the race is started by a bunch of pirates and the firing of their cannon. The dogs having their morning walk were not impressed!
The route is along the sea wall and after 2.5km the 5k guys turn around a cone and head back.
It’s just short of stunning Reculver Towers that the 10k runners turn around and head back. It was a fair wind in the face all the way to Reculver so at the turn around it was welcome relief to have some wind assistance.
At the finish everyone seemed in good spirits. Amazing what a bit of sun can do.
Thanks to all the marshalls who were really supportive and who had given up part of their mothering Sunday for this race.
Considering everyone is busy with their marathon training and it was Mother’s Day, there was a really good showing from Thanet Roadrunners.
Congratulations to Mark Skelton on his PB. He’s deep marathon training and flying at the moment.
Hope to see you all at the next Club Champ Race which is another local one, the ‘Coastal Half Marathon’ on 29th March.
