The 5th Club Champ race of the 2026 season took us to the Isle of Sheppey. This is the 40th year this race has taken place and is put on by Sporting Events and the Rotary Club of Minster-on-Sea.
Without the wind this would definitely be a PB course, however the wind was there to greet us on the return leg…
The course starts at Sheerness near to the sea front then heads along the seafront pretty much all the way to Minster where it loops around a cone then back the same way.
There is also a 5k race taking place at the same time with an earlier loop around.
It was a lovely sunny day today but with a cool wind the conditions were pretty good. Although not full in your face, the wind did slow everyone down on the way back.
At the end, cruelly, you have to run past the slope down to the finish line and continue along the seawall for about 500 meters before back around a cone then a wind assisted push to the finish line.
A brilliant performance from Asmaa Hatim who came in 1st lady and some great point earning runs from the rest of the team who were making the most of many missing runners, no doubt busy in their final preparations for London.

Next up is our AGM (29th April) where we will be voting on some important decisions as well as giving medals to all participants of the last XC season (also some individual XC trophies to hand out).
