Deal Tri Club hosted this week’s relay at Betteshanger Park. This is a new relay for the series. The course was a single lap anticlockwise on the cycle track of 2.01 miles. The start and finish were on a fast downhill section.
After a miserable start of the day and thunderstorms early afternoon the evening cleared and we raced with the sun shining. Thankfully only a gentle breeze unlike some of the cross countries held at Betteshanger.
This week we had 12 teams representing Thanet roadrunners. Unfortunately, due to illness 2 of the ladies teams were non scoring. Thanks to Julie Williams for running twice.
At the start of the race Andy Stevens said a few words in memory of Pete Johnson. A 1 minutes applause was held in his memory.
We had a few new runners joining the teams this week. Well done to Cal Chalkley for her debut at the relays and representing the club.
Also well done to Paul Newsome for his debut and thanks to Russell Jones and Andy Stevens for both stepping in at the last minute to make scoring teams for the men.
The next relay takes us to Ashford, it’s not too late to come and join the teams if you would like to have a go, please let myself or Phil know.
