The Big Half

A few traccies headed into the city bright and early for this years half marathon. A beautiful morning as we headed to the baggage drop on the south side of London Bridge before walking over the bridge to the start line.

The course starts just round the corner of Tower bridge.  There are nice wide roads to get into a comfortable pace before heading into Limehouse Tunnel. The tunnel got warmer and warmer as we went further in. Plus the challenge of losing GPS and trying to keep pace with the watch either showing you were going too fast or too slow. The light and fresh air was very welcome as we came out the other side, although there was a bit of a hill back up to the road.

The course continued round to Canary Wharf where the GPS continued to play havoc. From here the streets narrowed a little back towards Limehouse and the road turned into cobblestones.

At around mile 7 there is the incline up to Tower bridge. Before crossing the iconic bridge and taking in the city views. Rotherhithe was slightly quieter on the route before heading towards Greenwich. The finish is right by the Cutty Sark before walking into Greenwich Park.

A great day out racing in London with lots of people cheering on the way, live music at different spots. A great race if you fancy a run around London -(this is the first half of the London marathon route but in reverse), easy to enter with entries open already for next year.
