March – Brittany Crombie
Brittany is a very talented and versatile runner who does a lot of work behind the scenes for the club. Brittany may be best known for her cross country prowess, she attended all the Kent Fitness league XC races this season and was the highest placed female in our team, coming in at an incredible 15th place overall. In addition to scoring highly, which undoubtedly helped the club secure the overall team 5th place (out of 18 clubs), Brittany also helps write every race report and supports Joanne Kemp, as Vice Captain for the cross country season. Brittany is also extremely strong with her road running, especially if there are hills involved which she seems to glide up effortlessly! Brittany completed the Deal half marathon recently in 1 hour 37. Cross country, fast races, ultra distances do not phase her. Brittany has several ultra marathon races under her belt showing real bravery and maturity and a confidence beyond her years. Last year she completed the coast to coast challenge crossing the north of England from the west coast all the way to the east.
Many congratulations Brittany!
Q. What attracted you to join TRAC? A: I moved to Margate around 3 years ago without knowing anybody. The first thing I did was join TRAC – I love running and it made sense to get to know people who share this love. Instantly, I was made to feel welcome, encouraged to come to all the sessions and quickly invited to join the Road Relays. Since then, TRAC has become an anchor to my life here in Margate. It wouldn’t be the same without it!
Q. What’s your best moment? A: My time at TRAC has been filled with so many great moments (lots of them at Cross Country races getting muddy in the freezing cold – bliss!), but one that seems most significant is when I shared my write-up of the Ultra last March which I decided to pull out of mid-race. The response I received was incredible – it cemented my belief that the club is made up of genuinely wonderful people, who are at once impressive runners and cherished teammates.
Q. What would you say to a new person who is considering joining? A: I would tell them not to hesitate in joining. It was one of the best decisions I could’ve made when I moved here, enabling me to become a stronger, more confident runner and giving me an opportunity to meet a broad range of people who have the same passion for running as I do.
Q. What does the club mean to you? A: The club is important both to me as an individual and to the local community, serving as an indispensable source of friendship and camaraderie, and a key impetus to improve my running. It brings me so much joy!
Thanks, Julie
