– Ruby Jones –

Despite so many great performances at London and Manchester marathons our runner of the month has been an easy choice for our run leaders. Ruby Jones smashed our lady’s marathon record in London, despite the heat and congestion which took their toll on so many other runners. This alone, in a club with 43 years of impressive records is amazing, but Ruby has done things the hard way. Read about her battle with Anorexia Nervosa and long path to success on our website. Ruby is one amazing and inspirational lady who we are proud to have within the club.
We asked Ruby:
Q: What attracted you to join TRAC?
A: I met so many lovely people at the first marathon I ever did which was TRACs Kent Coastal, I was honestly quite taken aback by the friendliness of complete strangers and sense of community that when I was encouraged to come along, I couldn’t not. I hadn’t even realised there was a running club in Thanet!
Q: What is your best moment?
A: The Sub 3 of course
Q: What would you say to a new person who is considering joining?
A: It’ll be the best thing you ever do, it’s not elitist, it’s a family, everyone is rooting for each other. The social runs and team spirit definitely makes running easier. Plus there’s a wide range of abilities and experiences from runners at the club that anyone would benefit from, stuff even AI couldn’t tell you!
Q: What does the club mean to you?
A: The club means so much to me as my running would not have progressed to the extent it has had I not have joined. Aside from performance though, the people I’ve met and the friendships I’ve made are so very special and precious to me, the club really was my support and my focus during some tremendously difficult times.
