TRAC Runner of the Month – July

July – Phil Morton

Phil has been with the club for a few years now and has got stronger and  stronger as a runner. He’s now damn quick! A regular to the track and so  dependable during the XC season, being one of the few runners to make  every race. A V50, Phil was in every scoring team for the XC, helping  team TRAC to their highest finish in the KFL.

With the return of the relays, Phil stepped up to the plate and was in the V50 A team for all 5  races, putting out superb performances and helping the V50 A team retain  their trophy. Not an easy feat with the quality competition from Ashford  AC and Folkestone. To boot, Phil is modest with his running abilities,  never has a bad word to say about anyone and is a genuinely nice guy.

We asked Phil for feedback on TRAC and what he would say to others considering joining:

“The reason I decided to join TRAC a few years back was mainly to do with  the track sessions with the aim to improve my Parkrun times. This  definitely helped me!

My best moment was achieving a sub 40 minute 10k. It took a few attempts  but got there in the end.

To anyone thinking of joining I would definitely recommend it whatever  your level or goals are as everyone is so supportive and friendly and I  would suggest the XC and summer Relays as well.

The club to me is a source of inspiration. The journeys and progress  people make when they put the work in is great to see and can be a great  motivator”.
